Before school started, we had one last summer hoorah ...a trip to the beach! My whole family went and we had a BLAST! This is what we woke up to every morning we were there (except the first morning). After a quick shower though it was perfect! In this nice, calm water were lots of
blue crab,
and jellyfish.
We stayed at the Phoenix West, which means we have a water slide! The kids would slide ALL day if we would let them. We usually went to the beach first and stopped by the water slide on the way up.
Wallace is an old pro but this year he did not have to use his swimmies!
I would have lost money in a bet because I thought Emma-Glenn would be terrified of it (she is my more cautious child). She saw all the "big kids" doing it and off she went. She wanted Daddy to go down with her the first couple of times.
Then she would say "I do it by myself" and off she would go. This time she got turned around.
I thought she would come up scared and crying but she was all smiles. She proved her momma wrong!
There were also several trips around the lazy river.
During Spring Break, she did not like the ocean at all.
At first she stayed in the sand and played but as soon as she saw everyone having fun in the ocean, she wanted to go too.
She was fine as long as Daddy had her!
We built lots of sand castles.
The boys got buried in the sand (one of the only times they were still except for when they were sleeping).
Then sister so kindly dumped water all over them.
Soles got up and looked at Wallace like he was crazy for letting the girls dump water on him.
When a few waves would come our way, the boys would try to fight them. Oh what fun!
Uncle Andy bought some nets and that was entertainment for "the bigger boys".
After they caught the crabs, we put them in a cooler.
Then we took them upstairs and iced them in the sink.
When it was dinner time, Chef Andy, boiled them in a pot and then it was time to eat!!!
The chefs in the kitchen. We stayed on the beach and at the slide/pool all day. It was so nice to not have to rush in to go out to eat. We ate in every night and it was SO yummy! We had shrimp, crab, corn and crab chowder, and pizza.
Early morning, ready to go play!
I have a picture like this from each year we have stayed there.
